500 Metres Fly Rules
- Any calibre less than .50Cal. (some ranges may have a lower limit)
- Any stock configuration.
- Any scope power including spotting scopes. Competitors may spot for each
other.
- No Weight restrictions for Heavy Gun class. Light Gun class weight is
17lbs (7.711kgs) including bipods.
- No rails ie. rifles must be shot from separate sand bag systems where
the rear sandbag shall contact both the bench and the rifle. The front sandbag can be attached to a pedestal which can have adjustments for windage and elevation.
- 7 minute details. 1 target per shooter per detail.
- Only 5 shots on the target for record. 3 sighters at another medium (eg
paper or steel) for each relay. Payment of nominations shall be deemed
as total acceptance of these rules.
- No muzzle brakes.
- Compliance with range safety rules at all times.
- Any competitor found not enjoying themselves will be disqualified
Scoring Procedures
The target is shot for score and group.
Scoring is best edge ie if the shot is in the 8 zone but touching the 9 ring it is given the higher value.
5 scoring shots per target. If there are more than 5 shots only the lowest 5 will be counted.
Scoring gauges are to be used to verify any close hits. Ideally official
gauges for that calibre should be used, however if they are not all available,
obtain a sample bullet from the shooter.
Group measuring is done only if there are 5 (or more) shots on the target.
Group to be measured from centre to centre of the 2 furthermost shots. (these
can be anywhere on the paper)
Bonus Points are allocated on groups that are 10 inches and under :-
- 10” & under – 1 point
- 9” & under– 2 points, 8” & under – 3 points, 7” & under – 4 points etc etc
- 1” & under – 10 points
These points are added onto the total of the 5 scoring shots.
If a shot touches any part of the FLY a .1 is added to the score.
Top score per target is 50.5.
Bonus points total per target is 10.
Maximum total points available per target is 60.5
Maximum 5 target match top score is 300.25
